Sea Wind RV Resort &
Kaufer-Hubert Memorial
Park
Sea Wind and Kaufer-Hubert Memorial Park is one of Kleberg Counties
finest parks. Sea Wind offers 134 camping sites for RVs and an
extra 22 overflow spots. Sea Wind also has a beautiful recreation
hall that is used by the Winter Texans for weekly meals and social
gatherings.
Adjoining Sea Wind is
the beautiful Kaufer-Hubert Memorial Park. This park offers a playground
area for children with various swing sets, slides, and monkey
bars. Along with a play area, Katzenjammer Hubert Park has several
barbecue grills and picnic tables near shady mesquite trees. One
of the biggest attractions to this park, is the 500 foot fishing
pier on Baffin Bay.
The land for Kaufer-Hubert
Park originated from two different resources. On July 12, 1954,
Mr. B.O. Sims, Jr., sold Kleberg County forty acres of land for
$15,000. These forty acres became known as Kaufer Park. The County
of KIeberg erg built a 500 foot fishing pier that extends into
Baffin Bay. Along with the pier, a childrens playground was also
built, and picnic tables and barbecue grills were added. In 1985,
Vernie Hubert donated approximately forty acres of land to establish
Sea Wind, the RV camp site. This park is named after two outstanding
citizens of Kleberg County. Leo Kaufer served his county as a long
time commissioner while Vernie Hubert helped the county by donating
forty acres of land. With the addition of Sea Wind, the Kaufer-Hubert
Memorial Park has blossomed into a popular tourist attraction.
