Thompson
Park
Thompson park was established
on August 7th 1943. The Kleberg Town and Improvement Company
sold the city of Kingsville 2.75 acres of land to be used for
a neighborhood park. Thompson park is located on the corner
of South Armstrong and Caesar. Thompson park has excellent barbecue
facilities. Along with several grills, Thompson park has a large
smoker. Children and adults who visit the park can enjoy themselves
with various playground equipment and a basketball court. Thompson
park provides swing sets, a slide, and a concrete basketball
court.
Thompson park was named
after an African American leader in the Kingsville community.
Wil Thompson was also a prominent business man who owned a dry
cleaning business.
